Nova Scotia elects
NDP majority
On June 9th,
Nova Scotia elected
an NDP majority
government, the
strongest majority
for any party since
1993. The NDP won 31
seats, Liberals 11
and Conservatives
10. The
Conservatives lost
10 seats from the
previous
government. Voter
turnout was 58.5%.
During the campaign
the NDP
Leader Darrell
Dexter
had called for an
end to the cap on
minor injury claims
for pain and
suffering (auto
insurance), to be
replaced by a
deductible.
