CRTC Consultation -
Should Consumer Registrations be Permanent
In Public Notice
2008-14 the CRTC issued a call for comments on
three issues as follows:
- Should calls
related to candidates running for election
be excluded from DNCL rules?
- Should
consumer registrations on the DNCL be
permanent? Given that the removal of
disconnected and re-assigned telephone
numbers from the D NCL could be costly, it
was determined that DNCL registrations would
only be valid for 3 years. The CRTC invites
comments on whether there is a cost
effective way to remove disconnected and
re-assigned numbers, and whether this should
be done to make consumer DNCL registrations
permanent.
- Should rules
for ADAD calls for purposes other than for
solicitation ( e.g. collection on overdue
accounts) be maintained to the effect that
calling hour restrictions in provincial
legislation apply only if they are more
restrictive than the calling hours set by
the CRTC ?
Parties interested
in participating in the process must file
notification by October 30. Comments are due by
December 4 and reply comments by December 19th.
The CRTC will make its decision on the issues
within 3 months. All information will be posted
on the CRTC’s website.
